Unfortunately, fire seems to be a reoccurring theme this summer. Back in May of this year, Tess’ Lark Tavern was shut down due to an early morning fire that devastated the inside of the popular Albany hang-out.

Just this past week, another major fire broke out on the Harrier Fields Farm in Columbia County, burning four barns to the ground, killing two work horses, destroying every machine, tool, and piece of equipment in them.

To top that off, we just got word that our friends from SwampPitBBQ that we hung out with at the Troy Pig Out had their trailer flip over while in tow on the highway and catch fire while traveling in Vermont. This resulted in the loss of the competition trailer and the really cool Crystal Pig trophy they won! Don’t worry, Troy BID is having another one made for them! We’ll keep you updated here with any updates we get from them, but they are looking forward and are already off to the next competition.

For now, we’re asking for any help you can give to the Harrier Fields Farm Assistance Fund. There are many ways you can help:

3. Donate tools, supplies and equipment. Everything from carpenter tools to shovels. They can be sent or delivered to:

4. Help rebuild the Harrier Farm barns. At some point there is going to be an old-fashioned barn raising with help from family, friends, and the community.

Please remember, whatever you do, it does not have to be a lot of money or time. It’s when a lot of people get together and donate/do little bit, that big things happen.
